GOLF TOURNAMENT

The weather was great the contestants (48) were ready, the course -- pristine. Rob French and Scott Newton put on another great golf event. Our club should net $5,000. Rob and crew managed to raise another $440.00 by dealing in Mulligan’s, these funds will be sent to the charity overseeing Michael Brewers medical bills and recovery after he was set ablaze by his ex-friends several weeks ago. Our sincere thanks to Rob, Scott and their crew, good luck to Michael Brewer.

TASTE OF THE ISLAND #4

This is the annual event when we throw out the diet concerns, "damn the calories - full speed ahead!" Our participation in the event is more that of a host than a contributing vendor. Although we could ad some "gas" to the mixture by having a couple of our guys brew up some of our award winning CHILI with lots of beans… Anyhow we need to get as many feet on the ground SUNDAY AT 11:30 AM at The Richardson House as possible for setup.

Emperor Alan and Tom B. have volunteered to help park cars they need help so those of you who have always wanted to try your driving skills out in "Demolition Derby" you may get your dream shot! I’m sure the attendees will be coming in BMWs, Lexi (plural of Lexus), Mercedes, Acuras OH BOY!

If you don’t know where the Richardson House is, it is across the street from the Dairy Queen on Wilton Drive. Now if you don’t know where the Dairy Queen is then get a Garmin or call somebody. Rob French is coordinating the event with the City and participants and as he mentioned last night there is a bonus for those who show up AND WORK! Not just show up. That means we have enough Pole Leaners already!

Some of the participants are: Blue Martini, Aruba, The Melting Pot, Kelly’s Landing, Rosie’s, the Naked Grape and Red’s. For a project, this is tough not to enjoy…

PUMPKINS

Bryan and Randy updated everyone at the meeting that things are going well at the lot with pumpkin sales strong. Please, please, please try and find time to participate so we can finish this off. It was hinted that we may end up selling all of the pumpkins, if that is the case, then we won’t be going up to Lion Country Safari to feed the remnants to the elephants, hippos, and lions like we did last year. As Emperor Alan pointed out, this is the single biggest fundraiser we have! We may gross $16,000.00.

Bryan wants to clean up the lot Tuesday the 3rd at 5:00 PM; he and Randy want to leave the lot cleaner than we got it. Our very sincere thanks to Wachovia Bank for the use of their property. We want to thank Bryan and Randy for their stewardship running the project. It was almost fortuitous that the pumpkins arrived a week late with the weather as hot as it has been.

TOWN CRIER

OTHER STUFF

Sandy Richards made a $1,000.00 donation in the name of her late husband to our club’s building fund. This was very generous and greatly appreciated. We don’t know if anybody has noticed, but the back concrete patio is starting to slide into the canal. The Iguanas have been complaining lately that it is harder, with their stubby legs, to get a running start into the canal and want the situation remedied ASAP. These funds will be put to good use.

Thanks Sandy!

Commissioner Tom Greene stopped by, Tom is a great guy let’s see if we can reel him in permanently.

This will be different- no Christmas tree lot - for the first time in?? years. We will be having a portion of the Holidays in New York I guess they have trees up there.

Happy Birthday Rob French 60.

Mother Nature does have a sense of humor!

A brief conversation with Alan Renzer last week was informative as to what he and the BOD have in mind for the upcoming holiday season; we liked very much what we heard. A new slant on some of our old projects as he and the Board unveil them we will try to post them as fast as possible for your information.
It has been announced that the Town Crier will be held off and delivered November 8th as we have quite a bit on our plates this weekend. The delivery gang will still meet at Over Easy Café as usual.
